$105.33The Story
The craft of overshot weaving arrived in America with Scottish immigrants who settled in the milder southern highlands. Among them is the small community of Seven Springs, North Carolina. Working on a white warp in the four-harness overshot method, these weavers produced intricate patterned coverlets from fibres they grew, raised, carded, spun, and dyed themselves. That Appalachian tradition now exists largely in museum collections. This blanket, woven in Pendleton's American mills from a blend of virgin wool and cotton, preserves the squared geometry of those historic coverlets in a napped fabric combed for a softer, thicker hand feel. Finished with whipstitch binding.
